Amit reviews Passenger BOI Working & HSRP Centre Functioning

Jammu, June 10: Amit Sharma, Special Secretary to Government, Transport Department with Additional Charge of J&K Road Safety Council today visited Board of Inspections (Passenger) Office alongwith RTO Jammu Dhaneter Manhas and reviewed the output and functioning of same. Alongside, Special Secretary Amit Sharma also visited High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) Centre which is also located in the same complex and analysed its working.
During the visit, Amit Sharma was given a detailed presentation about the working of Passenger BOI by ARTO Shafqat Majeed and MVI Er. R.K Kundal in which they explained all aspects of its functioning and pre-requisites meant for issuance of Fitness Certificate. In response to pointed queries of Special Secretary Transport, the team elaborated that the Fitness Certificate is issued on the basis of PUC Certificate, Speed Governor, Vehicle Location Tracking Device (SIM-based), Panic Button, Valid Insurance, RC, Last Fitness Certificate and payment of requisite Fitness Fees for same. Alongside, RTO Jammu apprised Special Secretary Amit Sharma that transport unions were making hue and cry regarding high cost of VLTD & Panic Buttons which are to be procured by five empaneled firms and also mentioning about the non-availability of Control Room for response mechanism to be put into place. All points were noted to be taken up with Government for appropriate and quick disposal of same in near future.
Amit Sharma personally operated the software offered by BSNL installed at BOI office wherein vehicles can be tracked on real-time basis through usage of Vehicle Location Tracking Devices (through BSNL SIM) installed in Passenger Vehicles which is a mandatory requirement to be installed in all Passenger Vehicles and Goods Vehicles with All India Permit.
In the second phase of visit, Special Secretary Transport Amit Sharma took a round of HSRP Centre with RTO, ARTO and MVIs to review the working of Centre where lot of people had gathered for installation of Registration Plates. The public expressed satisfaction over the functioning of Centre and the incharge elaborated about all precautions being taken by this single agency to ensure foil-proof mechanism adopted by them, strictly as per Ministry guidelines in preparation of Number Plates. Before culmination of tour, RTO Jammu requested Special Secretary for issuance of SRO related to inclusion of Postal Fees of ?50 alongwith Registration Fees, SMART Card based RCs, Dealer Point Registration & HSRP Installation so that the burden at RTO/ARTO offices can be reduced and shared by Vehicle sellers. Amit Sharma assured that the same will be taken up with Government so that these e-Governance based measures can be implemented at the earliest.
