Choked drain, culvert near Ganpati Food creates chaos during rain
6/29/2019 11:03:13 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, June 27: Since 2015, when Kavinder Gupta was a Speaker Legislative Assembly, we met him on several occasion seeking revamp of culvert near Ganpati Food, backside the Swaran Theatre but unfortunately, he could not meet his words until the state came under Governor's rule in June 2018.
Repairing of damaged drainage along with culvert point at crossing main road on the backside of Swaran Theatre has been a long pending demand, the choked drain serves at least 15 families of the area, but being choked all time, the locality becomes line swimming pool due to water logging. Local Vijay Kumar Inspector (retired), Sahib Singh, Satish Sharma, Man Singh and Bhopinder Singh informed Early Times adjoining area of 24A/B Gandhi Nagar suffers due non repairing of the culvert.
"It becomes terrible during rain to walk over here, few days left, as during monsoon the area remain water logged all the time", they said and added that the not only the local MLA, even government agencies entitled for this job are also befooling the people.
"During past three years, Engineers from PWD, R&B and UEED have repeatedly visited this place and it has been learnt that proposal for said works also made by the engineers, but the works couldn't see day lights," they said.
They said recent most they took the matter with Chief Engineer, UEED but he also played smart. "The culvert does not fall under the projects taken up by the UEED, it is responsibility of other department."
Lambasting BJP's leaders for their inefficiency to meet what they promised before assembly polls, the local said that Modi Government-I has pumped huge funds, and the in his second inning the Centre Government also leaving to stone unturned for development, but unfortunately those who were supposed to do justice with masses at local level, preferred closed door meeting instead of listing/ addressing pubic issues.
