Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 29: Dilapidated roads, lanes and choked drains at Ashok Nagar Satwari is enough to expose the development work done by the former Congress and BJP MLAs in the past one decade.
Residents alleged that the ex MLAs did not visit the area after getting mandate due to which heap of garbage, dilapidated roads, lanes pose a threat to the residents of the area. They also alleged that the former MLAs never visited their locality to take stock of their problems.
Charan Dass said that locals are being forced to throw garbage and other household waste material in open in the absence of dustbins which is a serious threat to residents as well as animals too. Moreover, the road of the Ashok Nagar Satwari has not been blacktopping over the last five years resulting the vehicle owners do complaints about backache and suffering from spinal problems but who cares?
Kirti Kumar said that heaps of garbage lay scattered on the road while the drains are choked with refuse adding that the condition of lanes is in shambles. Most interestingly there is no one to listen to their woes and redress them despite repeated pleas at every possible platform.
Sham Lal said that they are fed up with the problem of dilapidated lanes and choked drains and full of waste material while roads sides in the area have turned into mini garbage dumping sites. "The garbage is being dumped either in the near electric transformer near the canal as there is no provision of dustbin for collection of junk.
Radhe Sham said that the locals had expressed resentment with the previous PDP-BJP government for not starting the blacktopping of road despite submitting a plea to the concerned authority as well as concerned authority. The previous government had set the restoration of road, which they failed to fulfill and hope the state administration will now take steps to provide better services to the people.
Jeet Ram said that huge potholes can be found on the road which makes travelling a difficult task and has become a daily struggle. The concerned the authority has failed to repair the potholes on the road making them accident prone and leaving the commuters to face inconvenience thanks to the neglect by the former MLAs and officials.
Rajinder Kumar said their lanes and drains are in dilapidated condition. The poor sanitation blocked drains are common problems that plague the locality. Safaikaramchari doesn't visit regularly which leads to stink emanating from the garbage.
Nitish criticized the callous approach of former MLAs who he said, failed to take up the development work. He said politicians made several promises before election over the development of the locality but after getting elected, they never kept their word.
Parshotam said local councillor is also failed to carry out a sanitation drive to clear the accumulated filth on the road and never paid any heed towards their pleas, as a result, we are being forced to live in unhygienic condition.
