Early Times Report
Kishtwar, July 3: In a major security breach in militancy hit Kishtwar district, the police seized a camera fitted connected through wify devise.
Reports said , Jammu-Kashmir Police along with army seized camera-fitted Chinese drone flying over District Kishtwar jail-home to 101 under trail inmates including 25 militants. Among the 101 inmates lodged inside this high profile jail, four are Kashmiri militants while remaining are from Doda and Kishtwar districts.
"It is a small drone, but it has a camera fitted in it," police officials told Early Times.
In a first-ever incident of its kind a drone was seized by the police while it was spying over the high security District Kishtwar jail.
As soon as the police received information about it, the SSP Kishtwar, senior army officials, CRPF and other security agencies immediate rush to the spot.
The incident according to police took place on Tuesday evening at around 5.35 PM after it hit the high mask tower installed inside the district jail complex and fell on the ground.
Following the incident, Jail Superintendent immediately brought the matter into the notice of senior officials including police who rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation. The CRPF personnel deployed on the towers immediately raised an alarm and cordoned the area followed by search operation in and around the jail vicinity.
The sources said that the person who operated the drone might have lost his control over it as a result of which it hit the high mask watch tower.
The sources said that police is probing the matter on all possible angles adding that one jail staffer has been detained for questioning.
The sources said that the CCTV cameras installed inside the jail complex were off when the drone was flying over the jail.
Pertinent to mention some jail officials were found involved in felicitating the escape of Pakistani militant Naveed Jat last year from Srinagar.
The development comes in wake of last week's development when Kishtwar police received an input about the militants attempting to sneak into Kishtwar town to carry out terror strike following which massive search and cordon operation was launched in the town and its adjoining areas, but the suspect militants mange to give slip to security forces.
The intelligence sources told the Early Times that they had already alerted various agencies regarding militant plans of possible jail break.
After this incident security has been tightened in and around District Jail.
The sources even did not rule out the shifting of some high profile jail inmates either to Jammu jail or to some other jails in the state.
