JAMMU, July 27: The General Administration department (GAD) has posted a tainted officer as Director Rural Development (RDD) Jammu on temporary basis. "In the interest of administration, Sudershan Kumar, Additional Secretary to government, Department of Rural Development and Panchyati Raj, shall hold the charge of the post of director, Rural Development, Jammu, in addition to his own duties, till further orders", reads order number 873-GAD of 2019, dated 24/07/2019.
The post fell vacant on July 7 following transfer of Director General RDD Jammu, Rehana Batul as Managing Director JKTDC. "There were some other officers with tainted background eyeing this post, but they couldn't succeed. Now, the government picked the officer for the post who had been chargesheeted when he was BDO in district Jammu following his proved involvement in misappropriation of funds", sources said, adding that though he has not been permanently posted as Director, the government should immediately revoke this order and post an honest officer on the post.
"Unabated corruption and nepotism in past the ruined the department in Jammu; it needs an overhaul," said the sources. |
