Residents of Deeli rue dilapidated road, sub-standard work of lanes & drains
Flay on BJP, Congress for making false promises of development of their area

Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 3: Criticising BJP and Congress for not fulfilling their promises of development, the residents of Deeli said that these leaders hoodwinked us after winning elections as it has been years the roads are lying dilapidated which has not been blacktopped till date.
Continuing his mass contact programme, Munish Gupta, Editor Early Times, who would be contesting assembly election as an independent candidate from Gandhi Nagar constituency today met the people of Deeli near Atman College of Education and heard their problems and put forth his visions of development of his constituency.
"Although our area falls under Jammu Municipal Corporation yet nobody comes to clean our lanes and drains due to which huge garbage has accumulated in the drains resulting dirty water overflows on road. BJP leader Kavinder Gupta has remained fail on all fronts as MLA of Gandhi Nagar. He didn't carry out any development work in our area. Before elections, he made tall claims and took oath of carrying out development work but after winning he never showed his face. There is huge pothole on road which is in front of my gate and during rains water get collected in that pothole posing threat to us as well as to other motorists of falling off," said Deep Kumar, Swarn Lal, Parvesh, Ram Pal, Sarishta.
"The drainage system in our area is totally unplanned and due to which water goes nowhere and remain stagnant resulting gives birth to mosquitoes posing threat to health. There is no blacktopping on the road for years. We requested to the local leader and MLA for macadamisation of road but our plea was ignored," said RP Sharma.
Pointing out on the newly constructed lane in area, Omkar Sharma said that the construction work of lanes and drains was of sub standard quality. "At many places, the titles have caved in as cement has not been used in proper ratio. Moreover, the grills on drains have not been put on. Streets are not cleaned and there is no outlet of drainage system," said Kapil Dev Singh, Vijay Puri.
Neelam Gupta of Lower Deeli, highlighted the issue of lack of street lights. "There is no street light in our lane due to which there remain pitch dark during night hours which raises security threat. No person has been deployed by the JMC for cleaning of the lanes and drains which is the necessity of the area. Moreover the roads are in broken condition at many places and need urgent blacktopping," said Neelam Gupta, Sudesh, Ankur, Harish.
Some residents raised the issue of non listing of their names in voter lists. "We shifted to this place few years back but although the constituency was the same and applied for change of address but our names were struck off. We contacted the concerned department for issuance of the voter card but till date our problem has not been resolved," said Sudesh Dutta.
