Peace in shambles in Kashmir amid rumour mongering
8/30/2019 10:35:57 PM
Rumour mill is on in Kashmir where since August 5 the situation remains fluid. One does not know whether the situation turns, turns for bad or good. And among rumours students of Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) Awantipora have evacuated their hostels and left for their homes. At least 400 boarders belonging different areas of the Valley have left so far. IUST incharge hostel, Mohmmad Amin Bhat said, "There are at least 500 boarders residing in four hostels of IUST out of which at least 430 have left." Bhat said that the students in a state of panic due to prevailing situation in valley requested authorities to allow them to leave. There many political leaders, who despite their arrest, are busy in floating the rumour mill which scares people. And after the pilgrims and tourists were advised to leave Kashmir there has been a fair ground for rumours.
Bhat further said that the students of Rajouri, Poonch and Ladakh areas and foreign countries studying in IUST have not left and are still in the hostels of varsity. This indicates that those who should have been under scare should have left the Institute but those from Ladakh, Rajouri and Poonch have not left that here are some Kashmiri leaders who are bent on kicking up scare among the people both in the institutes, colleges and universities and offices. And this rumour about what is to come is killing people. Those from Jammu and the rest of India have already left the valley and it is chaos because of the deployment of 25,000 security personnel.
Meanwhile, IUST authorities have postponed the semester exams scheduled from August 05-09. The notification displayed on IUST website reads, "This is notified for the information of all the students of the University that the semester examinations scheduled from 05-08-2019 to 9-08-2019 have been postponed. New dates will be notified separately. There are some senior teachers posted in such institutes, universities and colleges who kick up rumours about the prevailing situation after the Government revoked Article 370 and Article 35-A. And he National Conference and the PDP are in the forefront of the campaign against he revocation of Articles 370 and 35-A there are some vested interests who try to secure benefits by kicking up turmoil. And the Government is interested in restoring peace to Kashmir. However, the role of Pakistan and its Prime Minister and Ministers may not allow peace to return to Kashmir. Leaders of Pakistan wish to see groups of militants pushed into Kashmir and pinch separatists to gear up for a bigger turmoil.
