ACB books father-son in disproportionate assets case

Jammu, Aug 30: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) today registered case of disproportionate assets (DA) against Senior Assistant posted in the office of BDO Assar and Junior Engineer posted in PWD (R&B) Division Ramban.
According to spokesman that ACB Doda has registered case against Nazir Ahmed Senior Assistant in BDO Office Assar and his son namely Arif Waquar, Junior Engineer, presently working in PWD (R&B) Division Ramban in a case for accumulating huge moveable/ immovable assets quite disproportionate to their known legal sources of income.
He said that a formal case under FIR No.07/2019 u/s 5(1) (e) read with section 5(2) J&K P.C. Act. Svt 2006 was registered against them in Police Station Anti-Corruption Bureau Doda and investigation taken-up.
"The cognizance into the matter has taken on the basis of a verification conducted to look into the allegations of raising assets disproportionate to their known sources of income by doe revealed that the said officials by indulging into corrupt practices and by misusing/abusing their official positions have raised huge assets in the shape of moveable / immovable properties, quite disproportionate to their known source of income", he added.
He said that during the course of verification it has been surfaced that both father and son are in possession of one triple storey house/one single storey house constructed on a piece of land measuring one kanal one marla, one double storey house constructed on another piece of land measuring 12 Marlas, land measuring 3 Kanal 12 Marlas on which shops are constructed at Assar, land, measuring 22 Kanals at Kurmail (Assar) and one sick unit (factory) established in one kanal land on National Highway Batote-Doda at Assar. Verification further revealed that Arif Waquar had also purchased one Maruti Car bearing No.JK14C-5815.
The expenditure incurred by both of them in acquiring these assets has been found much more than the legitimate income earned by them from all known sources of income. After obtaining search warrant from the Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Doda, ACB teams were constituted and deputed to conduct house searches of the accused public servants at village Assar, District Doda.
