HIL KAKA (SURANKOTE), Aug 30: General Officer Commanding White Knight Corps, Lt Gen Paramjit Singh Sangha accompanied by General Officer Commanding, Counter Insurgency Force (Romeo) visited the far flung area of Hill Kaka in Bafliaz area of Poonch district on Wednesday to commemorate the sacrifices of the brave locals and the valiant soldiers who played sterling role in bringing normalcy to the region.
The Corps Commander commemorated the day by laying wreath at the War Memorial at Hill Kaka. Various activities were conducted which included a Medical, Dental & Veterinary Camp, distribution of Solar lights to electrify village Hill Kaka and distribution of sewing machines to empower the ladies.
Hill Kaka is a remote hamlet located on southern side of Pir Panjal ranges and it takes seven to eight hours of trek to reach this village from nearest road-head. Hill Kaka area was infested with terrorists way back in early 2000.
In a unique operation, the locals fought alongside Indian Army to flush out terrorists from this region and bring normalcy in the historic Operation 'SARP-VINASH' in year 2003. Incidentally, General Officer Commanding White Knight Corps had participated in counter insurgency operations as a young company commander in these areas.
Lt Gen Paramjit Singh Sangha, General Officer Commanding White Knight Corps had earlier visited Hil Kaka on Nov 21, 2018.
To deal with medical emergencies, Army has constructed a Helipad at Hil Kaka for evacuation of critical patients. Army has also been in forefront in training youth for seeking employment in the region. Dilbar Qayoom, a youth hailing from Hill Kaka is presently undergoing training in Territorial Army.
