Intrusions in Ladakh
12/27/2019 10:51:12 PM
People's Liberation Army of China digging tunnels and enhancing its military infrastructure along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh are an indication that situation in the newly carved out Union Territory (UT) could take an ugly turn if steps are not taken to resolve the issues.
Activities of Chinese Army have increased since the day Ladakh has been turned into a UT. China seems to be playing a double game. On one hand its creating a notion that it wants to improve ties with India while on the other hand it's trying to help its all-weather friend Pakistan by raking up Kashmir at United Nations. After being snubbed by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) where it tried to raise the Kashmir again earlier this month, China is now making attempts to intrude into Ladakh region. The China and Pakistan together could be upto something big and this is cause of a concern which India needs to address.
Recently Chinese Foreign Minister said that China wants to have cordial relationship with India and visit of Chinese Premier Xi Ping to Chennai in October this year was really fruitful. It was during the visit of Chinese Premier that Prime Minister Modi issued a statement assuring that India won't take any steps which would escalate the tension in the sub-continent. One had expected that after India's assurance China would prevail upon Pakistan to dismantle the terror infrastructure on its soil and would stay away from pinching India in Ladakh and other regions. But China has not remained true to its word after the visit of Chinese President to India. China's attempt to raise Kashmir at UNSC and its Army making intrusion attempts in Ladakh prove it that our neighbour is not sincere.
The Government of India (GoI) needs to take up these issues with China and make it clear to the rulers there that certain things are unacceptable to India and if the neighbours don't mend their ways then India won't be left with any other alternative except exploring other options and one of them could be the counter offensive.
Pakistan is aware of the fact that its Army cannot match the strength of Indian Army and it has almost lost the proxy war in Kashmir. Now it is using China to succeed in its ulterior motives. The GoI has to ensure that Pakistan doesn't succeed in its nefarious designs to bring China and India at loggerheads.
