Developmental Programs to take backseat as ACR's prefer land registration over routine work

SRINAGAR, Dec 27: The Developmental Programs initiated by the Jammu and Kashmir Government could get delayed as the Assistant Commissioners of Revenue Department posted at District Headquarters prefer land registration over the routine work.
According to reports, the officers posted at District Headquarters as Assistant Commissioner Revenue has started preferring land registration over the their routine work that include land accusation and checking violations land Revenue Act.
they said that through out the day the officers can been seen sitting inside their offices and attesting land registration documents.
An officer, who is posted as Assistant Commissioner Revenue in one of the district of Kashmir division told Early Times that they are overburden with works assigned to them.
"Land transactions mainly take place at District Headquarters and we have been assigned the job of attesting the sale deeds because of which we are unable to do our basic duties," he said, however wished anonymity.
the officer said that assigning of the job land registration to Assistant Commissioners would impact the developmental plan that the government is keen to start in the Union Territory.
"My primary job is to acuare land for for roads and buildings but I am unable to do the same as I completely remain busy with the land registration," he added.
Financial Commissioner Revenu Dr Pawan Kotwal, when contacted, admitted that the officers posted as Assistant Commissioners mainly at DistrictHeadquarters were over burden with the work and the government has decided to depute separate sub-registers at District Headquarters for land registration.
"4 sub-registers will be deputed in Jammu and 4 in Srinagar who releave the Assistant Commissioners from the job and take up the land registration works" he said.
Dr Kotwal said that 56 posts have already been created and Sub-divisional magistrates have been assigned the job of land registration.
