DDC Udhampur reviews progress under various scholarship schemes

UDHAMPUR, Jan 2: District Development Commissioner, Udhampur Dr. Piyush Singla today chaired a review meeting to take stock of progress made under various scholarship schemes including pre matric and post matric scholarships for Scheduled Castes, Other Backward Classes, Economically Backward Classes, Physically Handicapped, Denotified Tribes and Minorities for the academic year 2019-20.
Additional District Development Commissioner, Ashok Kumar, District Social Welfare Officer, Sana Khan, Chief Education Officer, Purshottam Dutt Sharma and various Zonal Education Officers were present in the meeting.
While reviewing the pre matric scholarships, Dr Singla directed the concerned to complete the codal formalities and submit the lists of eligible students before the district level sanctioning committee latest by January, 15. He also urged them to proactively assist the students in completing the requisite formalities especially in regard to Aadhar enrolment and opening of bank accounts to facilitate early disbursement of scholarship amount through Direct Benefit Transfer. Assessing the roadmap for online submission under the post matric scholarship scheme, the DDC impressed upon the education department to complete institute mapping on both National Scholarship Portal and J&K's Social Welfare Portal by January 15 with subsequent completion of verification processes to be taken up by Institute Nodal Officers and District Nodal Officer on immediate basis.
To further facilitate the eligible students in availing benefits of various scholarships, Dr. Singla conveyed that a separate list of students requiring various certificates and documents viz Caste Certificate, Income Certificate, Aadhar Numbers and Bank Account Numbers be submitted at an earliest and ensured the expeditious processing of their cases through the concerned authority.
He further informed that special internet kiosks have been opened at DC Office Complex, Offices of SDMs / Tehsildars / BDOs and Community Service Centers which are providing free of cost internet assistance to the eligible students who can visit the premises between 1:00 PM- 3:00 PM and fill their scholarship forms on the portals.
