New Army Chief keeps options open
Policy of hot pursuit to continue, terror camps in PoK could be next target
1/3/2020 12:04:14 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Jan 2: The new Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane issuing a stern warning to Pakistan soon after assuming the charge is a clear indication that policy of “hot pursuit” against the terrorists would continue.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, “All out efforts of Pakistan army to push in terrorists into Jammu and Kashmir post August 5, 2019, have been thwarted by the robust counter infiltration grid along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border.”He said that General Naravane has minced no words to drive home a point that nothing will change with the change of guard in the Army. The policies which were framed by the outgoing Army Chief General Bipin Rawat will be followed in letter and spirit and nothing would be left to a chance,” the analyst added.
He said that the elevation of General Rawat as Chief of Defence Staff has proved it beyond doubt that country’s leadership has full faith in his capabilities and wants him to serve the nation till the menace of cross border terrorism is wiped out fully.
An observer said, “Terrorists not being able to make their presence felt in Kashmir post August 5 has made it clear that armed forces in the Valley have an upper hand and the Pakistan has lost the proxy war which it had started in Kashmir three decades ago.” Referring to General Naravane’s statement multiple options are on the table to respond to any act of terror sponsored and abetted by Pakistan, the observer said, “It’s a clear hint that Army has kept all its options open, including the trampling of LoC, to destroy the terror camps active in the Pakistan occupied Kashmir.”
Another analyst said, “Pakistan has not been left with many options. The message is loud and clear that if it indulges in any sort of misadventure in J&K it will have to pay a heavy price as the handful of terrorists and its incapable Army cannot match the skills and techniques of the Indian Army, which has been at the forefront of dealing with Pakistan sponsored terrorism.”
“Since August 5, 2019 terror related incidents in the Valley have been on decline as the leadership of the terror networks operational in Kashmir has been wiped out. Local recruitment into terror ranks has gown down as the elements, responsible for radicalizing the Kashmiri youth, have been taken care off. Pakistan Army has suffered another humiliating defeat and it could face one more if it continues to sponsor terror. The terror camps in PoK could be the next target of the Indian Army,” the analyst added.
