''By focusing on duties, people can automatically enjoy their rights and in present scenario, there is a dire need for the people to strike a genuine balance between their rights and duties,'' Ms Singh here said.
''It is the duty of the people to pay the taxes if their income is taxable as by doing so they contribute towards nation building,'' he said and added, the people must always remember the slogan ''Pay Tax Karo Relax''.
The new PCIT is is highly enthusiastic to be a part of the process of change which is a historic event in LG Girish Chandra Murmu-led dispensation.
On future functioning of the IT Department on handling the two Union Territories, she said, ''As of now the structure of department is same but the government is thinking of creating new working setup both technically and administratively only after a meticulous ground study''.
She also appealed to the Income Tax assessees not to be fear of Income Tax Department as the machinery is also the part of them and they must cooperate with the department with its staff always ready to lend a helping hand towards them.
Ms Singh, however, said she has experienced that by and large the assessees have complaints and the department always steps forward to assist them.
The PCIT informed that the IT Department is contemplating to activate ''Aai Kar Seva Kendras'' at more places so that people can avail the services of Tax Return Preparers (TRP) in these centres.
Ms Singh also revealed that the department has adopted a three pronged strategy that comprises Voluntary Compliance, Increasing the number of Tax payers and Emphasis on Tax collection and in this direction various business organizations and institutions including CCI, etc will be involved for organizing awareness campaigns.
