Jammu, Dec 2: A Jammu based fencer Tariq Hussain representing Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, won team gold medal in foil event in the recently concluded All India Inter University (Men) Championship hosted by the University of Jammu here.
Tariq, who has many achievements in his kitty, is an international fencer and have won many laurels for his University.
He secured fifth ranking in the championship on the basis of which, he has been selected for first Khelo India University Games 2020 to be held at Bhunveshwar, Odisha from Feb 22.
Tariq is a trainee of Junior Fencing Coach Rachna Jamwal of J&K State Sports Council.
She has appreciated him for an outstanding performance in the championship along with his teammates and wished him luck for his upcoming competitions.
Tariq has represented many national and international level competitions like Junior and Cadet World Fencing Championship in Verona, Italy from 1-9 April 2018, 30th Summer Universiade Napoli Italy 3-14 July 2019.
He has won Gold Medal in All India Inter University in 2019 held at GNDU, Amritsar, Gold Medal in All India Inter University in 2018 held at GNDU, Amritsar. He also participated 62nd National School Games 2016-17 organized by School Games Federation of India at Nalgonda, Telangana held on January 2017 and got Gold Medal, XII Cadet National Fencing Championship organized by Fencing
Association of India at Nanded, Maharastra held in January 2016 and Got Silver medal, Third U-23 National Level Fencing Championship organized by Fencing Association of India at Pune, Maharastra held in March 2016 and Got Silver Medal, Fourth U-23 National Level Fencing Championship organized by Fencing Association of India at Pune, Maharastra held in December, 2016 and Got Silver Medal, 61st National School Games 2015-16 organized by School Games Federation of India at Bhopal, Madhya Pardesh held on December, 2015 and got Bronze Medal. |
