Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 16: Managing Director, Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL), Yasha Mudgal, launched project work on Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Distribution Management System (DMS) under R-APDRP scheme for Jammu city.
The M/s G.E T&D India would be the implementing agency for SCADA and DMS project in Jammu city which will involve a cost of Rs. 93.73 crore including five years maintenance cost. The project is expected to be completed within 18 months.
Speaking on the occasion, the Managing Director JPDCL said that establishment of SCADA/DMS is a major step towards realizing the vision of reliable power supply to consumers of Jammu city. 'Implementation of this ambitious project will enable setting up of reliable and no manual touch for network monitoring and control by adoption of latest Information Technology', he added. Besides, all the 33/11 KV level reviving stations of Jammu city and 11KV feeders emanating from them shall be remotely monitored and controlled from a SCADA control centre constructed at Jammu city.
MD further said that necessary network parameters will be monitored from control centre and the corrective measures, wherever required, will be initiated. The system will enable real-time monitoring and control of Electric Distribution network and the exact location of the faults along the network can be identified as soon as they occur, thereby reducing the outage time, she added.
Besides, handling of loads during load shedding can be facilitated based on peak load figures and the strategic placement of capacitor banks for supply of quality power are some other benefits in overall planning and design of distribution network of Jammu city, she further informed.
