Spring Dales Kathua selected for ATL Grant

Jammu, Jan 16: Spring Dales English School, Changran Kathua is amongst the 6038 schools of India to establish Atal Tinkering Lab in 2020. Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) is a program run by Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) under NITI Aayog to foster curiosity and innovative mindset in young students across India to encourage research and innovation in schools across the country. The vision of the initiative is 'To create One million children in India as Neoteric Innovators'. The scheme aims to push creativity and innovation in school children, especially in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). . Young children will get a chance to work with tools and equipment to understand the concepts of STEM. ATL would contain educational and learning 'do it yourself' kits and equipment on science, electronics, robotics, open source microcontroller boards, sensors and 3D printers and computers. ATL can conduct different activities ranging from regional and national level competitions, exhibitions, workshops on problem solving, designing and fabrication of products, lecture series etc. at periodic intervals. NITI Aayog will provide a onetime grant of Rs 10 lakh for each laboratory to procure DIY kits, 3D printers and so on. Another Rs 10 lakh will be provided over five years to meet operations and maintenance expenses to each ATL.
