Cold wave continues in Kashmir, Pahalgam freezes at minus 11.9

Cold wave conditions continued in the Kashmir Valley on Friday as minimum temperatures remained below the freezing point.

Pahalgam the famous health resort which also serves as one of the base camps for the annual Amarnath Yatra was the coldest place in the region where minimum temperature was minus 11.9 degrees Celsius.

The temperature in Gulmarg famous ski-resort in north Kashmir was minus 11.5 degrees Celsius.

Srinagar, the summer capital of the state recorded a low of minus 0.8 while the mercury in Qazigund in south Kashmir settled at a low of minus 0.2 degrees Celsius.

Kokernag town recorded a low of minus 1.9 degrees Celsius while Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of minus 1.6 degrees Celsius last night.

Jammu city recorded 7.6 degrees Celsius, Katra town 6.4, Batote minus 1.9, Banihal 0.6 and Bhaderwah minus 2.7 as the minimum temperatures.
