EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Feb 9: The Darbar move employees and their families are thriving for water facilities from last 24 hours at the government quarters at Panjitharthi and surroundings due to the strike called by the daily rated employees of Public Health Engineering (PHE) department Jammu and Kashmir.
As per the reports available, as many as 30,000 daily rated employees of Public Health Engineering department had called for 24 hours strike on February 8 to mark the protest over denial of demands by the demands including regular wages to the employees.
Meanwhile the strike has not gone done well with the employees of darbar move who are stationed at government quarters in the city.
“My whole family is here and everything was going good until the water crisis. We have been struggling from last 24 hours due to the strike of PHE daily rated employees”, said a government employee Mushtaq to Early Times.
He added that government should pay heed to the demands of PHE employees who have denied of their rights so that our families don’t suffer. They should know water is life and without water everything seems to be dirty.
“I and my two sons have been carrying water bottles from local mosque and churches tap to home as we have not received the water we used to have in our government quarters”, said another employee wishing not be named.
He added that our families come here for two to three months but miseries seem to follow us. Believe me our wives are carrying water to the fourth floors of the government quarters. Thankfully we were able to receive water late night but were not enough to carry out the home duties including messing and cleaning as many families lives.
Meanwhile an employee of PHE said that we have been raising our voices and demands from last many years, but our demands are not fulfilled. And, unless and until our demands are meant strike will continue. We have families too and we have been struggling to run our household.
