JU holds awareness lecture

Jammu, Feb 9: With Board exams few weeks away, the Department of lifelong Learning (DLL), University of Jammu has taken a lead to help the young students, especially from rural pockets of the region, to tackle stress during the upcoming exams.
In this context, the DLL under the patronship of Professor Manoj Dhar, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, organised a day-long awareness lecture on ‘Examination Stress Management’ in collaboration with Counselling Cell, Directorate of School Education, Jammu at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Bishnah under Rashtriya Uchchattar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA)
In his address, Dr. Vivek Sharma, Senior Assistant Professor, DLL, University of Jammu who conceptualised and coordinated the programme briefed the audience about the importance of organising awareness lecture in their area.
He referred to the recent interaction of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi with young students entitled as ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi which was also aimed at stress management for students and teachers.
Romesh Kumar, Head Counselling Cell, Directorate of School Education, Jammu in the concluding session conducted an elaborative panel discussion followed by Question Answers session and distributed the pamphlets on tele-counselling among the students.
Highlight of the programme was individual counselling sessions aimed at increasing an individual’s self-awareness, encouraging self-exploration, identifying boundaries, enhancing communication skills and improving the use of healthy coping skills for the betterment of student community.
The Principal, Government Girls Higher Secondary School extended formal of vote of thanks and thanked the organiser for taking a lead by organizing this useful programme at a very crucial time of upcoming board examination for the betterment of student community.
