Udhampur, Mar 16: As the fear of dread coronavirus has spread across the globe, Municipal Council here is yet to realise its responsibility as garbage dumps, blocked drains, water logged streets and roads and poor working conditions of Safaikaramcharis are common sight in the town even no time table for lifting the garbage from the town under municipal limits
“The garbage dump in our area is scaring us as we daily see in news that more and more people are being infected by coronavirus,” A lady from Chabutra Bazar Udhampur said pointing to a garbage dump in her locality and no time table of concern authorities for lifting the garbage.
“Even some other epidemic may outbreak from the dirty lanes and drains which are almost everywhere in the town,” a retired Pharmacist from the town feared. Similar were the views of other peoples in the town with many saying that over a year has passed when the Municipal Councillors were elected but still there is no solution to the waterlogged lanes and roads as even a slight rainfall blocks many roads and streets in the town with dirty water coming out from the drains. People hoped that the municipality should realise his duties and perform to the satisfaction of the public so that healthy environment for public should prevail. |
