Ramzanpura residents demand action against unauthorized control of street lights

JAMMU, Mar 20: The people of Ramzanpura locality falling under Ward No 60 of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) wherein JMC has recently installed the LED lights has slammed the authorities for the failure in maintaining the control over these street lights as the same has been taken over by the people who are controlling these street lights as per their own whims and fancies.
The locals told the Early Times that these street lights have been installed with the purpose to illuminate the streets of the locality which otherwise prior to the installation of these LED lights— the streets were under darkness in the evening and commoners in general and masses in particular face immense hardships— But the Ramzanpura Mohalla in Eidgah road Janipur wherein also these LED lights were installed by the JMC which are now under the control of some people of the locality illegally and put these lights on switch off and switch on mode as per the own choice and thus irritating the common people.
The people told the Early Times that during evening hours, these LED lights mostly remains off — not full filling the very purpose of the installations of these LED lights.
The households living in this locality also questioned the illegal move of this household by terming the action as illegal.
They said that there is another street in this locality where two LED lights have been installed by the JMC and surprisingly, one of them rendered defunct within a single day which is yet to be made functional despite repeated pleas by the local inhabitants added that like in case of adjoining street, the control of the other street light is in the hand of a local resident.
The locals also took a dig against the concerned municipality employee who had installed the LED lights in the area as the fittings of the LED bulb has not been done properly due to which these LED lights did not illuminates at its best.
The angry people called upon the JMC authorities to take over the control of all street lights by deputing some officials beside to check whether the LED lights have been working or not to the extent that it should have been.
