EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Mar 21: With Jammu and Kashmir government on tenterhooks due to the prevailing COVID-19 threat, questions are being raised over whether it is deliberately trying to downplay the blunder of allowing the infected person to enter the erstwhile state unscreened.
As per the reports, first corona patient was allowed by the government from Srinagar airport to leave without screening. She as per the reports had come from Saudi Arabia after performing Umrah and used her VIP influence to go home unchecked from the VIP gate. The lady in question tested positive for COVID-19, leaving the entire administration jolted to the core.
Meanwhile, the central government has reprimanded the Jammu and Kashmir government over such a blunder, seeking report over the mismanagement and sorry state of affairs.
Meanwhile, people too are ridiculing the government over allowing the VIP Raj to continue eating away the system and exposing people to unimaginable dangers. “This time, they have gone too far. How come the officials who were posted with the sole purpose to check the entrants allowed the lady to get away easily and what this VIP gate means after all,” posted one social media user. There were scores of other social media users who wanted termination of services of the officials who were posted at the airport to check the COVID cases. There are demands being made that these officials must be booked under attempt to murder cases for such a ruthless negligence in the discharge of their duties. “Where on earth have you seen such dereliction of duties done by the officials who were otherwise posted to check the inflow of the disease. It leaves one wondering why are they still roaming free and why they have not been arrested by the government so far. Why is government deliberately trying to shield them and striving to downplay the issue?,” asked another netizen.
Meanwhile, there are reports coming to the fore that an enquiry has been ordered into the matter and the probe findings are being sent to the central government.
Jammu and Kashmir government on Friday said that 3330 travelers and persons are under surveillance in the Union Territory while as 43 people were admitted in different hospitals across Kashmir.
To prevent the deadly virus from spreading, the district administration Srinagar and others ordered imposition of restrictions under section 144n CrPc in the respective districts. Police and paramilitary troopers were deployed in large number in almost every district especially in Srinagar where they had erected concertina wires on the roads to prevent the large gathering of people.
According to the bulletin on novel coronavirus, 44 person are under hospital quarantine while as 416 persons are in home surveillance. 405 persons have complete their surveillance period of 28 days and so far 04 persons have been tested positive for coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir. Furthermore 178 out of 186 samples have been tested negative so far while as 04 have been tested positive and reports of 04 are yet to come.
