SRINAGAR, Mar 21: At a time when general public is scared about the deadliest COVID-19, the authorities of Municipal authority has failed to clean the roads, lanes and by lanes where the cow dung and other garbage are being dumped, due to which there are high chances that some other diseases may spread.
According to sources that, with each passing day orders are being issued by the authorities of health and other departments concerned about the preventive measure from various diseases including of coronavirus.
Almost there is no lane or by lane in rural areas and even in towns where cow dung and other garbage have not been dumped by the common masses, but the authorities especially the Municipal Committees and Councils are well aware about the other diseases that can spread anytime due to their negligence, sources informed Early Times.
Sources said that, the garbage and its smell results to environment pollution and cause diseases, but despite the tall claims to make the areas clean, the authorities concerned have failed to give relief to common masses and adds miseries for patients and residents of various rural areas.
Abdul Majeed from Bandipora said that, the solid waste including plastic bags, polythene, domestic waste and even cow dung has been dumped on various roads in rural areas of north Kashmir.
“Yesterday I was in Sopore town of north Kashmir, where I saw that cow dung was dumped by the locals near the roads that could cause the disease, but Municipal authority has failed to restrict the locals from dumping that on the roadside, said a local resident from Handwara.
Dumping of garbage and other waste on the roadside is still common in most areas of the Kashmir valley, but the precautionary measures should have been taken up by the department concerned, said another local resident from Baramulla town.
Sources said that, besides issuing orders only, the authorities should sanitize the towns and villages for which they can depute the men from health and municipal departments, so that they can create awareness among the general public.
Prevention is better than cure, has remained confined to books and papers only, unless and until the employees of the concerned departments will not make the general public aware about the various diseases including COVID-19, sources observed.
