| Traffic cops thrash civilians, video goes viral | | |

Udhampur, Mar 21: In a bizarre incident at four lane national highway sangoor chowk near railway station of Udhampur traffic cops were seen pulling a truck driver out from his vehicle and a boy making video of the incident also badly roughed up by the traffic cops along with his cousin.
Two days ago, the video has gone viral with many people questioning the authority of traffic cops to thrash the people like animals.
Many people have reacted to the video with condemnations for traffic cops while some were asking the higher ups in traffic police department to check actions of cops with innocent public.
However SSP traffic ignored repeated calls by this reporter to comment on the incident.
The video is with Early Times and is being widely shared on social media from the two days. “Our police is known for its integrity and in fighting terrorists and other anti-social and anti-national elements. Many of our cops have sacrificed their lives while safeguarding the countrymen but such incidents shakes public faith and creates fear for police which should not be there,” viewed one Sham Lal—a retired teacher in Udhampur. |
