RDD directs all ACDs to submit photographic evidence of works executed under MGNREGA

Jammu, Mar 21: In order to curb the growing menace of corruption with regard to implementation of centrally sponsored scheme MGNREGA, the Depart of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj in Jammu and Kashmir has issued directions to all the Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) to submit the photographic evidence of the execution of MGNREGA works and submit the same by or before 10-4-2020 for further submitting to higher authorities.
As per the details available with Early Times, Rakesh K Badyal, Additional Secretary to the Government, department of RD&PR vide letter No. RD/MGNREGAS/Misc/4/2020 Dated 20-3-2020 to submit the photographs of works completed during Financial Year 2019-20 under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA which should be reached to Administrative Department by or before 10-4-2020 as soft copy (pen drive) for onward submission to Higher Authorities, without any fail.
Speaking to Early Times, the officials in RD&PR said that the employees of department are already busy in filling the T- 5 sheets on officials website beside are also playing its part with District Administration in dealing with Coronavirus pandemic added that at the time when whole world including Union Territory of J&K is battling with COVID 19 Virus threat — it is not possible for the officials of Rural Development Department to complete this task in a given time frame. The officials further said that due to closure of all the offices, non availability of transportation which is banned due to growing threat from Coronavirus and others restrictions in place, it is not possible for them to carry forward this massive exercise assigned to them by the government since same could put the lives of the employees of the department at risk.
They called upon the authorities to kept the order issued today in abeyance till the situation become conducive in the Union Territory which is presently battling with increasing threat of spreading of Coronavirus— the disaster knowing at our door.
“We are not shying away from our responsibilities— but the time is not ripe to take this exercise at the time when whole world is battling the threat looming large over us aimed prevailing Coronavirus threat” said an employee of RDD department urging the department to defer the call till the situation limped back to normal.
