Early Times REport

Banihal, Mar 23: People of Pogal Paristan ,Ukhral, Alanbass ,Neel ,Dhak Dhammasta and Batroo of Ramban District demanded proper screening and quarantine of all the people having travel history either from outside Union Territory or foreign travel history.
Speaking to Early Times, the People urged District administration Ramban for proper screening and quarantine of all the people coming from different states and countries alleging that those coming from outside state or having travel history of Saudi Arabia or any other foreign country are being allowed to go to their homes without any screening and quarantine.
The People said that they have apprehensions that those coming from outside state might be the threat to the local population which may cause devastating effects to all the natives of not only Pogal Partisan and its adjoining areas, but threat to whole of the Union Territory.
They said that most of the labourers and students who had travel history of outside state are allowed to reach their homes ,meet their families, friends, relatives and if infected may cause spread of COVID-19 which may have catastrophic effects in many parts of the world since first case reported in Wuhan in China.
The people urge the administration to ensure proper screening of all the people coming from outside state and in case found anything threatening, they should be kept in isolation for at least 14 days or be treated as per the guidelines of health Department. People also appealed district administration to issue strict instructions to all the staff on job for strict implementation of government advisories being issued from time to time.
People also alleged that the surveillance teams are least bothered about their responsibility of locating the people coming from outside state/foreign and ensuring their quarantine which is a matter of great concern for all the natives.
They also said that near about 10 person having travel history of different states like Himachal Pardedh, Delhi, Banglore and Rajasthan where cases of Coronavirus has been detected, but none of them have been kept in isolation which develops fear and phobia among the local population.
They said that there is no chance of being reluctant and not responding to this deadly virus at administration level added that tehsil administration has totally failed in implementation of guidelines for challenging COVID-19.
They said that Pogal Partisan is a far flung area where people are lacking basic facilities of health and hygiene and is vulnerable for COVID-19 so it is the responsibility of tehsil and District administration to take all precautionary measures well in time. Besides, a screening center should be established at Ukhral and travelers should be allowed to move to their homes only after proper checking of their travel history.
They said that it is a futile exercise to ask the people for quarantine after spending several days at home.
Those not cooperating should be dealt strictly because it is the question of life safety of lacs of people, they further added.
