| Kashmiri people hide travel history, skip quarantine, endanger lives in JK | | |

Srinagar, Mar 23: In a shocking series of developments many of the Kashmiris who are travelling home from abroad have hiding their travel history to skip requisite quarantine thereby risking lives of people amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Not only are the people hiding such details but are even running away from the quarantines facilities in Kashmir.
While the social media is flooded with such complaints, some of the senior officials have also posted about the insensitive incidents. “A girl coming from US posed as Student returning from Bangladesh. A "thick skinned babu" (as we are called) insisted on passport while allotting room, got to know. USA 3rd highest COVID cases in world. I need to attend another lecture on WHO guidelines now!!,” Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal tweeted.
There are many such cases being reported. “Two brothers. Same Medical College in Bangladesh. One travels by air, declares travel history lands in Quarantine. Other takes road goes home, probably enjoyed Wazwan. Smart neighbor informs Control Room. Team got in touch. Symptomatic. WHO guidelines lecture please?,” posted a senior official.
Sources said in one more such case the authorities have got to know that a woman hailing from Srinagar city travelled from Europe but didn’t reveal it at the airport but left for home.
A senior official said there are numerous such incidents where the people have concealed their travel history to avoid quarantine. “This is deadly negligence on their part as by doing so they are only making everyone who comes in contact with them vulnerable to corona virus and this is a serious issue,” said a senior official on the condition of anonymity.
He said the government was exploring options to initiate strict action against such offenders. “We are taking legal opinion into the matter,” the official said. |
