Huge arms and ammunition recovered in north Kashmir

SRINAGAR, Mar 23: A joint team of security forces including JK police, Army and CRPF has arrested four anti national elements along with arms and ammunitions in north Kashmir.
According to sources that, on March 22, Sopore Police developed an intelligence regarding illegal delivery of Arms & Ammunition by some Anti National Elements near District Hospital Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Accordingly a special team of Police Sopore, 22 RR, 179 CRPF & 177 CRPF was constituted and they apprehended 04 individuals namely Ahtisham Farooq Mauk S/O Farooq Ahmad Mauk R/O Mumkak Mohalla Batpora, Shafqat Au Tagoo S/O Murtaza Au Tagoo R/O Jalalabad Sopore, Nisar Ahmad Ganie S/O Mohd Akbar Ganai R/O Pujipora Krankshivan Sopore, and Musaib Hassan Bhat S/O Gh Hassan Bhat R/O Mohalla Mumkar Batpora Sopore, from whose possession one Pistol and 12 hand Grenades were recovered.
However a police statement said that, during preliminary interrogation they revealed that they are in contact with Pakistan based LeT Handler, who has deputed them for recruiting local youths for terrorist activities in Sopore area.
They further revealed that they have received the Arms & Ammunition from one Kabeer Lone S/o Bashir Lone R/O Keran A/P Tikker Kupwara, who in turn has lead to the apprehension of one Sharafat Khan s/o Lal Badshah Khan R/O Keran Kupwara, said police handout.
Statement further said that, the main purpose of the group was to revive LeT and to accumulate Arms & Ammunition for arming newly recruited terrorists and to go for target killings in order to terrorize general public.
During preliminary investigation 06 individuals have been arrested so for, Investigation of the case is further going on. However in pursuance to the revelation during the interrogation a joint Police party from Police District Sopore and District Kupwara along with local Army unit 06 RR conducted searches in the Keran area of Kupwara and after which Arms & Ammunition were recovered on revelation of Sharafat Khan, including AK-74 Rifle 6, AK -47 rifle 2, AK Magazines 25, Ammunition 7.62mm 750 RDS, Pistol 9mm 9, Pistol Magazines 16, Pistol Ammunition 351 RDS, Hand Grenades 7, Detonator fuse 21, and Pithu bags 04.
