35 arrested for violating lockdown orders

Srinagar, Apr 2: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested 35 persons for violating government orders in Handwara and Awantipora.
A police spokesman in a statement said that continuing its actions against violators of government prohibitory orders, Police in Handwara and Awantipora have booked 35 persons besides, 6 shops were also seized in Handwara. “In the jurisdiction of Police Station Awantipora, 07 persons have been arrested by police for violating the Government prohibitory orders over COVID-19,” said the spokesman.
“Accordingly case FIR No. 40/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Awantipora and investigation has been taken up,” he said.
“Similarly, Handwara Police has arrested 28 persons who were violating Govt orders. In the jurisdiction of Police Station Handwara case FIR No. 98/2020 under the relevant section of the law has been registered against 07 persons who were found violating the orders imposed by District Magistrate U/s 144 CrPC,” said a police spokesman in a statement.
“In the jurisdiction of Police Station Vilgam, 15 persons have been arrested by police for violating the Government prohibitory orders over
COVID-19. Case FIR No. 40/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Vilgam and investigation has been taken up,” he said.
“In the jurisdiction of Police Station Kralgund, Police along with Magistrate sealed 06 Shops and arrested the Shopkeepers for violating the prohibitory orders imposed by District Magistrate Kupwara U/s144 CrPC. Case FIR No. 20/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Kralgund and investigation taken up,” he added.
“Police have once again requested the general public to follow the restrictions imposed by Government in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and those who are violating the restrictions will be dealt strictly,” said a police spokesman.
