CAPD starts distribution of two months ration among ration card holders

JAMMU, Apr 2: Keeping in view the ongoing lockdown announced by the Government of India aimed at containing the threat of Coronavirus, the department of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) has started distribution of two months ration among ration card holders in Kishtwar district.
As per the details available with Early Times, the distribution of ration at Government run depots began from yesterday. A huge rush of people was witnessed to collect the ration from depots.
Since the restrictions are in place, the police personnel on duty along with the officials of District administration ensured that the distance between the people arriving at Government run depots could be maintained as a part of guidelines to prevent the spread of infection.
The ration according to the officials will be distributed in all parts of Kishtwar other than some areas of Marwah, Warwan and few far flung areas of the district where the ration among the beneficiaries had already stands distributed till May 2020.
Speaking to Early Times, dealer Mohammad Abbas said that instead of one month ration, two month ration is being distributed among the ration card holders on payment basis.
In a question about distribution of free ration among the card holders as was announced by the Government of India, Mohammad Abbas said that they have yet to receive free ration from the government adding that as and when the department delivers the consignment of free ration to the dealers, same will be distributed among the beneficiaries without any delay.
Speaking to Early Times, the senior official informed that the department has already compiled the list of beneficiaries who are entitled for the distribution of ration as announced by the Government of India adding that the department will receive the said ration quota within next two weeks. He said that CAPD team under the leadership of AD CAPD Kishtwar Mohammad Ramzan, TSO Suresh Sharma and Storekeeper Kishtwar Shabir Ahmed Sheikh on the directions of DC Kishtwar Rajinder Singh Tara had also distributed free ration among the non-local inhabitants beside also among the stranded labourers at Kishtwar and Chatroo. He said that the list of more such persons who are in need of the ration is being prepared so that same could be provided with the ration kits.
