Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, Apr 2: At a time when many Muslims are adamant to offer prayers (Nimaz) in the Masjids the religious heads have made it clear that situation is not ripe for the same due to the outbreak of Corona Virus.
Religious preachers like Mufti Irfan Raja, Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam and Maulana Ghulam Rasool Hami along with scores of other Imams have asked the Muslims across the world especially those living in Jammu & Kashmir to offer five times Nimaz at their respective homes since the pandemic has broken out.
Mufti Irfan who leads the prayers at the Goripora-Sanat Nagar Masjid in Srinagar has in the recent past time and again asked the people to offer Nimaz at their homes. He in fact asked the people to offer the Friday prayers at home as well.
“We used to offer prayers in a Jamaat (collectively) upto March 25 and from that date we stopped the same. I asked the people to stay put and offer the Nimaz at their homes since the virus could break out easily in a congregation. It was a unanimous decision and all the elders supported the move,” said Mufti Irfan.
The Mufti in fact made announcements on the microphone of the Masjid asking people to desist from going to Masjid and asked them to stay indoors so that the virus does not spread in the society. He also made the announcement for Friday prayers asking the people to offer the same at home.
Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam who initially did not ask the people to offer prayers at home changed his stance as soon as the situation started worsening. He asked the local Imams to offer the prayers in the Masjid along with not more than three persons saying that same would ensure that there is no congregation and at the same time Jamaat is also offered.
Mufti Nasir who is the Grand Mufti of Jammu & Kashmir has asked the people to offer prayers at home and plead with Allah so that the pandemic of Corona Virus does not affect the people anymore. He believes that there is a strong message in prayers and that global crisis on account of Corona Virus pandemic can come to end if one prays earnestly.
Maulana Ghulam Rasool Hami of Karwani Islami has also urged the Muslims to offer the Nimaz at their homes so that the pandemic does not spread in Jammu & Kashmir as has been the case in different parts of world. He says that need of hour is to protect the lives of people and same can be done by staying at home.
Maulana Hami said that Islam is a religion of compassion and love and it does not want that any person in the world should suffer. He said that there is flexibility in Islam when there is pandemic like situation and it is no sin if a person offers Nimaz at home.
