Nomadic community craves for ration; fodder for dying animals

JAMMU, April 2: The nomadic families living in Sidhra area of Jammu district are craving for ration as well as fodder for dying animals and urged upon the government and Jammu administration to provide them the ration or allow them to move back to summer green plateaus so that their animals could survive the starvation.
As per the details available with Early Times, at a time when different political parties, NGOs, civil society and Police is at the forefront in providing ration to the poor and needy in the outskirts of the Jammu but major chunk of Bakarwal (Nomadic) are still waiting for the help under testing time and accuses the authorities of adopting Nelson’s eye towards this poor class which is craving for the ration in wake of the deadly coronavirus amidst lockdown.
These nomadic people used to settle in plain area during the onset of winter and take refuge for almost six months along with their animals including Jammu to beat the cold and during summer again they go back to the hills— this is their way of living.
But since the day of lockdown they are facing immense hardships because they are not allowed to work due to which they could not be able to feed their families and the cattle’s which is hallmark of their life.
As per the nomadic families who are putting up at the Dangali Mohalla in Sidhra area in temporary sheds are accusing the government of biased added that at the time when non locals had been provided with free ration kits, own citizens of Jammu and Kashmir are suffering added that when they requested the a DySP rank officer who visited the area for help— they alleged that the said police Officer straight forward refuse to help them since according to them the official informed them that only no locals — particularly that of Bihar or Rajasthan are entitled for it.
A group of nomadic people while sharing their views divulged that they are facing discrimination at the hands of administration, police, NGOs and civil society as they are not getting any relief from their side added that the authorities concerned are least bother to comes to their rescue at this crucial juncture.
Elaborating further, they said that had authorities allow them to move outside— then they can do some work and earn their livelihood so as to feed their gullible families who are at the verge of starvation along with animals.
They claim that several animals already died for want of food added that form the last 15 days— they receive no sort of help from the Government side— who otherwise don’t missed a chance in highlight the same through media.
The urged the government as well as the district administration to allow them to move home along with their animals or provide ration to them.
