Disrespect shown to ex-Governor, admin in deep slumber
Inauguration stone of SeK Bridge Poonch on his name dismantled

EARLY TIMES REPORT

POONCH, Apr 10: In a sheer disrespect to a former Governor of erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir State, who had inaugurated Sher-e-Kashmir (SeK) Bridge Poonch around 25 years ago, the inauguration stone bearing his name was dismantled and thrown down the same bridge.
But shockingly the Poonch district administration seems to be unaware of the incident. The local residents strongly criticized the act and said that it is an insult to the former governor who fulfilled the demand of the people of Poonch by getting executed the construction of this much needed bridge.
“This bridge connects entire Poonch with Jammu district and was constructed in 1995 and subsequently inaugurated by the then Governor of the Jammu and Kashmir General KV Karishna Rao,” said the local residents.
They further said that it was a gift to the people of Poonch by the Governor Rao and there are strong sentiments of the residents attached to it but dismantling the inauguration stone is a shameful act and sheer disrespect to such great personality.
They alleged that the Poonch administration has deliberately paid no attention to this matter and acting as mute spectator. They demanded that new stone should be installed on the bridge to pay tribute to the former governor.
