Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 10: Much to the delight of people of Kishtwar District, all four remaining tests of COVID-19 suspects, including three members of Tablighi Jamat, turned out to be negative on Friday.
Besides people, Kishtwar administration also heaved a sigh of relief. The administration had banned the entry of the people into Kishtwar District well ahead of Janta Curfew and nationwide lockdown announced by the Prime Minister as part of strategy to fight COVID-19 pandemic.
As per the details available with Early Times, Kishtwar District Administration prepared a well thought out plan to tackle the spread of Coronavirus disease by blocking only entry point at Thatri junction— the inter district connectivity between Doda and Kishtwar District.
As per the officials, as a part of strategy to track down the suspects, Kishtwar police put few members of Tablighi Jamat under active surveillance and quarantine on 17-3-2020 and 27-3-2020 and continuously put them under administrative quarantine and later under surveillance before the officials decided to send their samples for testing. Among the four samples that all turned out to be negative— the three among them were with Tablighi Jamat history while another one had a travel historyto different states.
The officials told the Early Times that so far nine COVID-19 tests have been conducted and luckily all the tests turned out to be negative.
The officials said that around 545 people are under quarantine, isolation and under surveillance in Kishtwar District. They added that after completing administrative quarantine, the people were put under home surveillance for next two weeks as well.
The officials urged the people to use masks, prefer to stay at home and maintain social distance.
The officials also asked the people to report travel history as well as arrival of any person in the locality since several people are hiding travel history and are not cooperating which is a matter of great concern.
