Pvt school pressurizes parents to pay 3 month fee, annual charges
4/10/2020 10:55:34 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Apr 10: In total violation of the order issued by Department of School Education in view of COVID-19 lockdown, a private school is reportedly pressurizing the parents to submit the first quarter fee along with annual charges.
The Principal Secretary to Government, Department of School Education, issued an order number 100-Edu of 2020 dated 30/3/2020, had taken serious cognizance of the reports about the private schools, which have been pressurizing the parents to submit the monthly fee as well as annual charges.
The School Education department order had directed the private school not to pressurize the parents to submit the fee as well as annual charges.
The 6th paragraph of the order reads, “It is clarified that the last date to deposit the school fee is extended to 30th April 2020 without any late fee and no school shall either charge any fee for the online lectures assignments or shall link the result of the child on the basis of home assignment”.
Despite issuance of such order, a school in Akhnoor Tehsil has started sending messages to the parents of the students to submit the first quarter monthly fee at the rate of Rs 1475, which is 4425 along with annual charges of 6500 in the bank before 30th April”, the whatsapp message reads and the School has also sent the Bank Account number of the School to submit online fee along with IFSC code to the parents.
The parents pleading anonymity said that the school administration has started sending repeated messages to the parents for submitting the fee, which was totally unfair. “At one hand there is no confirmed news about the opening of lockdown and the parents have also been facing tough situation to run their routine affairs but the school management has been pressurising them to submit the fee”, the parents said, adding that the order of School Education Department was issued 30th March considering the fact that lockdown was scheduled till April 14 but in view of the present circumstances, nothing could be said.
The parents further said that as per the order of School Education department, it was clarified in the order at paragraph 7th, which reads, “......regarding annual School fee being charged b the Private Schools; Director School Education Jammu/Kashmir shall after giving an opportunity of being heard to all the stakeholders including parents and private schools representatives submit their recommendations to the administrative departments within a week.....”.
It is strange to notice that in the complete lockdown, how the parents as well as private schools could be heard and their recommendations could be sent to administrative department. “But the private school management has also been asking the parents to submit the annual fee of Rs 6500, which is another violation of the order”, the parents said, adding that they were not heard about any meeting held at DSEJ or DSEK to know about the suggestions.
The Department of School Education should take cognizance of the matter and save the parents from unnecessary harassment.
