Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 13: Violation of ongoing countrywide lockdown to contain spread of COVID-19 goes unabated as stone crushers of Poonch district under the patronage of administration operate without restriction.
Commoners are being victimized by district administration and the Police but there are no rules for the influential people. “Even the social workers and media are not allowed to discharge their professional duties in the time of crises,” said a local and added that at the same time some influential are enjoying privileges.
“A stone crusher situated at Drungli Nallah, opposite Nangali Sahib in Poonch district is operating in full public view but no action is being initiated against the owner. Today we came to know about the visit of IGP Jammu Mukesh Singh, and we tried to reach the venue, but the Police did not allow us,” said a social worker, adding that they were halted at Drungli Nallah where a Police Officer along with some jawan was on duty. “We requested him to let us go to meet IGP, but he did not allow us on the pretext of lockdown. But unfortunately, the officer remained mum over the operation of a stone crusher in his presence,” they said.
They further said that they tried to contact district administration and Police but no one answered our repeateded phone calls that too in the time of emergency.
Deputy Commissioner, Poonch could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
