Trapped non-local workers not getting ration, accuse administration of neglect Early Times Report
Migrant labourers on verge of starvation in Rajouri
4/13/2020 10:45:56 PM
RAJOURI, Apr 13: Amid the ongoing lockdown due to deadly coronavirus, the district administration is making tall claims that adequate measure have been put in place to take care of the migrant labourers belonging to other states of the country. But it is being alleged by the trapped labourers from outside Union Territory of J&K that the district administration has failed to provide them dry ration.
There are some areas around the city of Rajouri where dozens of labourers from outside states are stranded and are craving for a grain of bread.
The stranded labourers said that since the implementation of lockdown they have not been able to earn a single penny as they are without any work and had spent whatever savings they had to procure essential commodities. Now, they are waiting for the help of the administration to feed their children, but assistance of any sort is nowhere in sight as yet and they are getting neglected.
“We requested the local Patwari and other officials to provide us some relief particularly ration but so far no one has taken care of us,” they said.
The distressed labourers pleaded that the authorities should show some mercy on them and their children pity and should provide ration as soon as possible, otherwise their kids would die of hunger.
When contacted, ADC Rajouri, Sher Singh said that special committees have been formed to provide ration to the trapped labourers from outside states.
He said that we will find out the reasons if some workers have not received ration till now adding that responsibility for such negligence will be fixed and action will be taken.
