The information was revealed by Commissioner JMC, Avny Lavasa while briefing about the latest efforts being undertaken in the City to control the further spread of coronavirus.
She said that the disinfectant tunnels are being installed on priority at high-risk areas like hospitals, isolation and quarantine centres and other locations with high footfall so as to provide protection to the doctors, paramedical staff and health care workers/employees engaged in emergency services to deal with the pandemic.
The tunnels have been installed at Government Medical College Bakshi Nagar, Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar, Government Hospital Sarwal, Government Chest Diseases Hospital, Government Psychiatric Diseases Hospital, Yatri Bhawan and JMC Town Hall Complex.
These locations are being prioritized so as to minimize the chances of further spread of coronavirus. In the coming days, JMC will also install disinfectant tunnels at many other locations where footfall is high including Red Zone areas like Bathindi Naka opposite Wave Mall, Gorkha Nagar, Narwal Mandi, Warehouse etc. Commissioner JMC also appealed the general public to avoid gatherings in public places and make use of alcohol-based sanitizers and masks as preventive measures to contain the spread of COVID-19
