Srinagar, Apr 14: Jammu and Kashmir police have initiated inquiry into the alleged beating of an LPG Truck driver in North Kashmir’s Sopore Town.

Reports reveal that Babu Ram driving LPG Truck (JKO2F-4075) was allegedly beaten by Jammu and Kashmir police in Sopore.

As per the reports, "The inquiry into the incident was started after DGM, Retail Sales, Indian Oil Corporation, Jammu, Rajiv Yadav sent a mail to Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, alleging that an LPG driver was ruthlessly beaten up by the police in Sopore".

However, Jammu and Kashmir police said that before getting directions from the District Development Commissioner Baramulla, they initiated inquiry and waiting for the outcome of the said inquiry.

District Development Commissioner Baramulla, GN Itoo has sent a letter to Senior Superintendent of Police, Sopore, a copy of which lies with Early Times, reads that he received a complaint through email from Mr Rajiv Yadav, DGM, Retail Sales, Indian Oil Corporation, Jammu, which states that the driver Babu Ram driving LPG Truck (JKO2F-4075) has been beaten by police and even photographs have been attached with the mail in proof of the claim.
“It is a serious matter and needs to be properly enquired and action needs to be taken against those involved,” the letter vide number DCB/PS/455-60 dispatched by District Development Commissioner Baramulla to SSP Sopore reads.

The Deputy Commissioner has advised SSP Sopore to initiate an enquiry into the matter and share the outcome along with action with his office within 2 days.
