Police arrests 96 persons and seized 19 vehicles in north Kashmir for defying orders

KUPWARA, Apr 20: JK police arrested scores of people that were defying the prohibitory orders in Handwara and Sopore area of north Kashmir, while as many vehicles have been also seized.
A police statement said that, many violators have been booked in Handwara jurisdictions that were defying the prohibitory orders. In the Jurisdiction of Police Station Handwara, Police have arrested 47 persons and seized one vehicle for defying Govt orders issued under u/s 144 CrPC.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered and investigations into the cases have been initiated.
In the jurisdiction of Police Station Qalamabad, Police have arrested 09 persons for violating the Govt prohibitory orders. Accordingly, case FIR No: 36/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation into the matter has been initiated.
In the jurisdiction of Police Station Vilgam, Police have arrested 21 persons and seized 05 vehicles for violating the Govt prohibitory orders. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered and investigations have been initiated.
In the jurisdiction of Police Station Kralgund, Police have arrested 16 persons and seized 04 vehicles for violating the Govt prohibitory orders. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered and investigations have been initiated.
Police have once again requested the general public to follow the restrictions imposed by Government in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and those who are violating the restriction orders will be dealt strictly.
Meanwhile three shopkeepers have been also booked in Sopore town, despite clear lockdown orders of Government and time to time announcements made by Sopore Police via loud speakers.
Today three shopkeepers have been arrested and seized 09 Vehicles by Sopore Police in the jurisdiction of Police Station Sopore for violating the orders issued U/S 144 CrPC. Regarding which a case under relevant sections of law has been registered against violators and investigation taken up. People of Sopore are requested to follow Government advisories/orders so that this deadly virus/ Covid-19 could be controlled, said a police statement.
