Intelligence agencies on tenterhooks as Pak terror handles get active, threaten individuals
4/21/2020 12:17:35 AM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

Jammu, Apr 20: Even as the world is fighting against deadly coronavirus pandemic, neighboring Pakistan is back with its sinister plots of threatening individuals in Jammu and Kashmir through terror portals and social media accounts putting intelligence agencies on the tenterhooks.
Sources said the police are looking into details of some specific social media handles being used to either malign image, or to threaten certain individuals from Kashmir province in particular.
Sources said police have found that one such account was created very recently in the month of April itself, and was being used for anti-national and terror activities.
Sources said the account runs in the name of the same terror portal, which was found involved in the assassination of a senior journalist Syed Shujaat Bukhari at Press Enclave in Kashmir in 2018.
What has become a major concern for the intelligence agencies is that the Twitter handle is now targeting a particular journalist from Kashmir.
Sources said this journalist has come under target of the terror handles more so after he wrote a research based opinion piece to appreciate the good work of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in tackling corona virus in India.
Sources told Early Times that the journalist became a target on the social media account within hours of the opinion piece having got published online.
Sources said such terror handles are also targeting some other individuals including politicians and social activists.
“Some forces are trying to create undue confusion in the minds of people. It seems to be out of a design and similar plots have hatched in the past as well by the terror groups,” said an official on the condition of anonymity.
It was reliably learnt that the Cyber Cell of the Jammu and Kashmir Police have got active to probe the terror handles in a bid to trace out their Internet Protocol or IP addresses.
Sources said a team of officials is looking into the matter.
