POONCH, Apr 21: Although government has been trying hard to curb the spread of COVID-19 pandemic by using various methods but Municipal Committee (MC) Poonch is allegedly adopting pick and choose policy in carrying out sanitization drive.
Sources said that ever since the Coronaviurs pandemic has spread its tentacles in Poonch district, the administration has started sensitization drives in various part of the town but it has been alleged that favouritism is being done by the MC Poonch as only selective places are being taken up under sanitization.
They further said that some influential Ward Members of MC Poonch have been taking the sanitization teams to their area to carrying the cleanliness drive.
“There are number of such places, within the Municipal Committee Poonch, which have been grappling with insanitation and heaps of the garbage can be seen laying unattended across the areas but the MC admin has been focusing only on selective areas and leaving other in grave situation,” they said.
They alleged that fumigation is being done across the MC Poonch to save areas from mosquitoes and other parasites and germs only in few areas. “We requested the concerned officers to divert their kind attention towards the problems of their areas but they turned their deaf ears,” they said.
Meanwhile, one of the Councillors, has expressed his serious concern over the pick and choose policy and has sought an information from DDC Poonch about the various purchases made under SDRF during lockdown period to fight against COVID-19.
