BARAMULLA, Apr 21: Authorities here today discharged 28 more persons, who were going through at administrative quarantine, JNV Shahkote Uri following their contact/travel history with positive cases. There is also good news from Bandipora where 15 patients have recovered. These persons, hailing from Uri were discharged after successfully completing their 14-day quarantine period. Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Uri, Reyaz Ahmad Malik said that those who had completed the mandatory 14-day quarantine were released after tests confirmed that they are not infected with COVID-19. He said that these persons were under thorough medical observation throughout their quarantine period and were discharged today only after testing negative. SDM Uri said that these persons have been released today with the advice to observe home quarantine.
The centre duty magistrate, Mushtaq Ahmad Bloot, who oversaw their discharge and transportation and Medical Officer Boniyar were also present on the occasion. The discharged persons expressed satisfaction over the facilities provided to them during their quarantine period. They were asked by the experts to act as ambassadors in their respective areas and familiarize the people in their area about the necessary precautions that needs to be taken to avoid any kind of eventuality. Sources said that more than 200 persons have been discharged from TRC Salamabad, Mohra and Shahkote Quarantine Centers so far after successfully completing their required two weeks quarantine in Sub Division Uri. District Magistrate Baramulla Dr G N Itoo today reiterated that the existing lockdown measures shall continue until May 3, with no relaxations and warned of strict action against those indulging in lockdown violations. The DM has also warned that no one shall be allowed to violate lockdown order as “we are still not past the peak of this deadly corona virus.” Meanwhile there are reports that 15 patients of corona virus from Bandipora district have recovered who have been discharged from Srinagar hospitals and as a precautionary measure, are under home quarantine, adding that their medical checkup is being conducted regularly.
The people of the district look at the recovery of 15 patients from the district as a sign of good omen and success against the war against the corona outbreak.
Worthwhile to mention here is that the district administration is on its toes to stop the outbreak and the police are also proactive in imposing strict restrictions in Bandipora to ensure the lockdown.
Several villages have already been declared as red zones and entry and exit in these zones have been completely banned to contain the spread of deadly COVID-19 to other areas of the district.
