Narrow escape for SDM Karnah at Sadhna top Army rescues, provided first aid

KUPWARA, Apr 21: Being a hilly and far flung area in this frontier district, a Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Karnah escaped unhurt along with his driver and a guard after snow avalanche hit their vehicle at Sadhna top in the afternoon on way to Kupwara.
According to sources that today after a vehicle of SDM Karnah Dr Bilal Ahmad along with his driver and security personnel was hit by snow avalanche at Sadhna top and they had a narrow in the incident. The Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) had left for Kupwara from Karnah Tangdhar early this afternoon and soon after they reach Sadhna top, a snow avalanche hit their vehicle, said sources.
They said that in the incident, the driver of the vehicle has suffered minor injury while the SDM Dr Bilal Ahmad and his security guard were rescued safely under the snow.
He also said that the injured driver was given first aid at local Army unit, who initially led the rescue operation to rescue them. Soon after the incident a police team also reached the spot and helped the officials that came under the snow avalanche along with their vehicle.
However sources while quoting the army officials as having said that, it was their timely action otherwise, God forbidden an untoward incidents would have happen.
Even though they were taken to the hospital for further treatment, they have been given first aid and besides army helped and rescued them earlier, said sources.
They said that time and again people of Keran, Karnah and Tangdar area are requested not to venture out of their houses during late hours, as authorities have placed strict restrictions in the district.
There is almost 3-4 feet of snow that has been accumulated in the higher reaches of Keran and Tangdar areas, and it would be better for the local inhabitants to stay in their houses, sources added.
