Revenue Department at forefront in fight against COVID- 19

SRINAGAR, APRIL 22: Department of Revenue is working at the forefront in coordination with other line departments to contain the spread of highly contagious coronavirus (COVID- 19) disease in Jammu and Kashmir.

This was stated by Assistant Commissioner Revenue Srinagar Mohammad Rouf Rahman here. The ACR said that the village committees comprising Lumberdars, Chowkidars, Patwaris, and Girdawars along with health officials and ASHA workers are doing praise worthy job of identifying the persons with travel history which, he said, is reason that COVID-19 target testing has remained successful.

He said the tracing of contact details is possible only with the active effort of ground level workers especially Lumberdar, Asha, local Panchayat, and Patwari concerned.

The Tehsildars and Naib tehsildars are assisting the higher authorities in identifying the red and buffer zones after declared positive case of COVID 19 in a particular area, subsequently sealing the area along with the police.

The lockdown has been implemented by all Tehsildars in their respective tehsils along with police, in letter and spirit, he said.

The Assistant Commissioner said the availability of essential commodities and price check especially of food items and pesticides have been ensured by all Tehsildars in their respective areas.

He said the Department has set up round-the-clock control rooms in all tehsils with every SOS call being responded in a shortest possible time.

The buildings for quarantine facilities were identified, administered, and all basic facilities were made available to these centers by Tehsildars with coordination from all line departments.

Tehsildar Kharhama, Sheikh Tariq Ahmad said Tehsildars along with their teams raise awareness among religious leaders about the necessity of social distancing and avoidance of religious and social gatherings, a step most vital to stop the viral COVID-19.

He said the tehsil administrations ensured that social distancing is implemented at banks, medical shops, hospitals, and pesticide shops. The tehsil administrations along with volunteers, especially Red Cross and local NGOs ensured the contact tracing and their shifting to isolation wards. The field-level workers along with higher-ups of Revenue Department are working as frontline responders along with all related departments

The officers of Revenue Department are also making sure that no fresh encroachment takes place on kahcharai, state or migrant land. They also ensured that all migrant labourers get food items, and also made their inventory, which was necessary for testing those who have recent travel history.

The Tehsildars along with their teams are also involved in informing public about COVID-19 its spread, significance of red zones, and dos and don'ts regarding the viral disease.
