JAMMU, Apr 25: Though human beings are presently locked down for fighting Corona pandemic, the environment post Covid-19 indicates that the nature that was severely under stress due to human activity, got a much needed relief, said social activist and ex-IGP SS Bijral.
In a handout released here today, SS Bijral said that nature is back to life with ecosystem rejuvenated- air is cleaner, rivers water potable, flora and fauna visibly, as if, rejoicing.
Bijral said that suffering huge fatalities worldwide due to deadly coronavirus is an awakening dawned that poisoned Earth’s ecosystem is turned anti-life.
He said that Corona pandemic signals more dangerous catastrophes, if humans continue to be anti-Nature adding that it’s high time, we get after to save Earth’s ecosystem.
Bijral said that UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres’ Earth Day message urging governments to use their economic responses to the pandemic to tackle the “even deeper emergency” of climate change should be the course of action for every nation.
Observing one day token Earth Day celebration by 193 countries will be a trickle, joke, tackling what is of “deeper emergency” magnitude. Till human beings develop love for mother Earth, nurture it with care, its abuse, forcing it to explode in manner worse than pandemic to protect itself, Earth’s health is set to worsen, he said, adding to generate that spirit, it is appealed to UN Secretary General that Earth Day 2020 marking its 50th anniversary should be a yearlong celebration.
