EARLY TIMES REPORT
RAJOURI, Apr 28: At a time when entire world has been grappling with COVID-19 and living under lockdown but border villagers of Nowshera Sub Division belonging to Muslim community, have been observing sacred month of Ramzan under Pak shelling across the LOC.
Early Times correspondent, who visited Pukharni village, which is the last village near LOC in Nowshera Sector to take ground report, observed that residents have been living under threat of shelling coming from Pakistan. “We are already facing huge problem to due to Coronavirus and subsequent lockdown and now shelling from Pakistan side during this sacred month of Ramzan have multiplied our worries,” said Hazi Mohd Rashid.
He further said that their village is just within 500-600 meter of Pakistan’s air range of bullets and shelling, which easily strike villagers. When ET correspondent reached the village at evening time, the women folk were cooking meal.
Another resident Mohd Arif said that it was very unfortunate that Pak being Islamic country has been resorting to firing even in the sacred month despite the fact that Islam doesn’t allow any kind of violence particularly during Ramzan and there should be complete ceasefire so that people may observe Ramzan without fear of bullet.
While narrating a past incident, the residents said one of the villagers Mohammad Altaf got injured due to bullet from Pakistan side, when he was sitting inside his house. “Although he was treated but the bullet could not be taken out from his body during operation by the doctors,” they added. Similarly, Pakistan has also started shelling in Bhawani, Shermakri area just before the start of Ramzan.
