Omar aides active, Mehbooba’s team silent
Ye Kya Ho Raha Hai?

Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 28: Even as former Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah and his aides have been active to compliment and supplement each other, no such development looks true for his counterpart from the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Mehbooba Mufti, whose close aides look silent despite being free.
Most of the PDP leaders who were released from the prison or the ones who were not arrested have been maintaining silence on the ground and also on the social media.
While the National Conference (NC) leaders have activated their social media cells and many of them regularly post comments to support their party, the PDP lobby is silent. The NC is trying to expand its base, but the “PDP leaders look standstill.”
On one hand, every tweet of Omar is shared by most of the party leaders who are active on the social media, but the tweets as made by daughter of Mehbooba Mufti, who is running the account of the former Chief Minister is not getting any such major support from the party cadres.
Sources said the aides of Mehbooba Mufti are uncertain about her fate as she still remains detained under Public Safety Act and thus they don’t want to be active publicly till she is released.
“The NC side got active only after Omar was released and he personally tweeted. But for the PDP leaders they seem to be feeling insecure,” said a political analyst.
It is pertinent to mention that NC has been regularly active on social media and its cadres are working on the ground as well whereas the PDP looks mostly dormant.
Even before the release of Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah, the NC leaders had even addressed a press conference. “But PDP is yet to hold any such event in Kashmir since Mehooba was arrested on August 5,” said a politician.
Analysts said another factor is that most of the PDP leaders after release from detention joined other parties. “Those who stayed back have been silent.”
Despite repeated attempts the PDP leaders were not available for comments.
