EArly Times REport

JAMMU, Apr 29: Financial Commissioner, Health & Medical Education, Atal Dulloo, today inspected and reviewed facilities at three COVID Care Centres in Jammu division.
FC was accompanied by Director Health Services Jammu, Dr. Renu Sharma; Managing Director, Jammu and Kashmir Medical Supplies Corporation Limited Dr Yashpal Sharma and other officers.
The FC visited Saraswati Dham and Vaishnavi Dham where 190 and 185 beds have been prepared respectively to handle Corona cases.
Pertinently, the health department has been establishing COVID Care Centres at different locations in order to increase its capacity to handle COVID cases. COVID Care Centre is a grade 3 facility where asymptomatic Covid positive and highly suspected patients are being kept separately.
During his visit to the CCCs, the FC expressed satisfaction over the facilities at the COVID CCs and directed the concerned authorities to prepare the Centre as per established guidelines. He directed that adequate facilities should be made available to the patients with proper provisions of adequate number of oxygen cylinders, ventilators besides other equipment and logistics.
“All the necessary equipment should be procured so that our CCCs are made fully functional. As soon as equipment are made available to the authorities these should be placed at an earliest in the Centres,” he maintained.
He directed the health authorities to be prepared in all respects to meet any eventuality in the wake of this pandemic. “We should be ready at all times and our CCCs should be all set to handle Covid positive patients in case of a surge in their numbers,” he said.
Later, the FC visited Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas Bhawan where a COVID Care Centre has been set up with a capacity of 450 beds.
The FC inspected various facilities at the Centre and directed the concerned to follow the prescribed healthcare guidelines properly while dealing with the Corona patients.
He appreciated the Shrine Board and the district administration for helping and supporting the health department in establishment of these COVID Care Centres.
“We are thankful to the Shrine Board and the district administration which have been at the forefront in helping the health department in its battle against the Corona virus. The fight against the virus needs collective efforts and their support is vital and appreciable,” he said.
He also instructed the concerned authorities to start work on M A Stadium Jammu at an earliest so that it will be converted into a COVID Care Centre.
Dr Yashpal Sharma, who has recently been posted as MD, JKMSCL in addition to the charge of Director Coordination New Medical Colleges, said that they are following all the healthcare guidelines in establishments of these COVID Care Centres and are increasing the bed capacity with upgraded facilities at these Centres for effective handling of Corona virus cases.
